I use Rolleiflex 6008AF + Godox XPro-C TTL flash trigger. When aperture and shutter are manual, the flash always fires. When in aperture priority, I believe it only fires flash at shutters of 1/60 or less (which matches what the manual says). Can I get it to meter aperture priority as if there was no flash, but fire the flash anyway? (I just use the flash to fill when the subject is facing away from the sun...and when flash not needed, literally to let the subject know a picture was taken, as it can be loud outdoors and the shutter cannot be heard).

The manual suggests that setting the exposure compensation to non-0 forces the flash to fire (in the case of Metz TTL flash), but regardless of Metz flash or Godox in manual mode, this is not what I observe, the camera still makes a decision on whether or not to fire the flash in aperture priority mode even with non-zero exposure compenstation. Any suggestions?

The best I have come up with is manual mode, and adjusting shutter to put the needle in the center, but sometimes I don't have those few seconds.

Right, so I think when talking with the Metz adapter, it will use some communication protocol for TTL. I just need the hot shoe to act as a dumb trigger (no TTL), just fire the flash unconditionally, and I'll take care of manually setting the flash power.

The reason that I mentioned "Godox XPro-C TTL" specifically is because I am under the impression that it is TTL for Canon hot shoes, but works in manual mode (non-TTL) for all other hot shoes, at least that is the expectation. But unsure if perhaps using a non-TTL Godox flash trigger (if one exists) will accomplish this.

It might be worth a try triggering the flash from the PC socket instead of the hotshoe.

Kind of restricts your freedom of movement. Test the camera's hotshoe by connecting it directly to the flash. It should trigger from the hotshoe, but no auto TTL. I have had the hotshoe go bad on a 6008 Professional, but the PC socket still worked.

I don't think that you can access TTL using a Metz without the correct adapter. You should be able to use the flash in auto but not TTL. Not sure of the auto.
I have a Leica R8 and a Metz will enable TTL only if the correct adapter.

From the Rollei manual

The Rollei SCA-3562 adapter or the correct Metz module (SCA-3562) to tailor the Metz flash to the Rollei.

From https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/444491-ttl-adapters-sca-356-vs-sca-3562/

The SCA-3562 adapter allows the following values to be exchanged between flash unit and Rolleiflex 6008 AF:
  • Focal-length setting of AF lenses to control the flash reflector
  • Lens aperture and film-speed setting to control the autoflash exposure mode of the flash unit
  • The flash-output compensation set on suitable flash units
  • Control of AF preflash.
With the dedicated Rollei SCA-3562 Flash Adapter and a Rolleiflex 6008 AF, the following flash modes are possible:</p>
  • Programmed AE flash
  • Aperture-priority AE flash
  • Shutter-priority AE flash
  • Fill-in autoflash (compensating and additive)
  • Flash bracketing.

If you are trying to do 'fill flash' you either need a Metz flash with TTL capacity or do it with the camera on Manual and do the calculations yourself.

For example, determine the shutter speed/ aperture combinations according to available light. Determine suitable combination according to permissible flash synchronization of the camera and shooting aperture available according the the flash. Set shutterspeed on camera and appropriate shooting aperture stopped down by one.

You can always set the Metz on Auto mode (not TTL), set it for exposure with f/stop set to -1EV slower than what is set on the lens, and get -1EV flash fill.
