Can the rubber eye cap on the top/rear of the Mamiya 7II be removed?
I think yes because I pulled it from one of the corners and it seems just fixed in place via some guides plus some glue, but wanted some advice from someone who has more of an in depth knowledge on this camera!
The reason I am asking is that I would like to try and experiment in making/adapting a magnifying hood for a diopter corrected and most importantly, an enlarged view.
Thanks for any advice on this!

There are/were diopters available for your camera. If you look at your picture, there is a secondary groove within the molded rubber piece. I'm almost positive they insert into that groove. I have no idea how "rare" they are these days.

Here's a link I found that may have some more info. I hope the link works.

The link to the manual would like you to pay. You should be able to get to page 24 without paying. That's the page that highlights the diopter information.

Hi there, I have the right diopter for me already and I am perfectly aware of this information. My question was different: if the hard-rubber eyepiece I outlined in the picture can be removed. I am trying to build a custom made solution to magnify the viewing not to correct with the diopter. Thanks!

Send an inquiry to Bill Rogers. He specializes in Mamiya repairs and sells parts. He can answer your question regarding replacing the rubber eyecup on the Mamiya 7II.

Sorry. I didn't fully absorb your question it seems. I wish you luck with this project.
