film border is printing onto my image on my T. is this something i need to find a tech for? i just had klinkhamer go over it about 18 months ago but can’t remember if he did transport work or just shutter.

Are you sure that it isn't a case of the image bleeding over the area where the edge printing belongs?
I've seen a few cameras where the film gate is overly large.
If it appears that the image is not centred on the film, it usually means there is a problem with either film loading or film transport.

Thanks, image doesn't appear exactly centered.

Can you supply a backlit digital photo of the negatives themselves, with the edges and space between the frames visible? A cel phone shot of the negatives held up to a window or a computer screen works well.

That just meant 2 things:
-The film is loaded too much on one side
-The window/frame is wider than on other cameras.

I also have a rolleiflex that does that, and it just migh be the T as well. Gonna have to check.

Edit: i remember my 3.5E shchneider does that. It never bothered me. Your negative is still a subordinate slave to the enlarger’s 6x6 mask. It will be cropped out.

nb23:: yep. i am wondering if im loading it cockeyed or somethin but never had an issue before that i can remember. gotta look at the old negs. also weird bumps on the side there too. i figure the camera would take care of the spacing and placement. looks good going in but i wasnt paying specific attention.

My rolleicord will do especially bad if i dont get the bottom spool fully seated on the pin/axle

One thing to check is the rollers, top and bottom. Sight them from the film travel direction and see if the spacing in relation to the film rails is even on both sides. It looks to me as if the image may be slightly skewed on the film, rotated about 1 degree counterclockwise (looking at the middle image, two people in chairs- meaning that the edge spacing is ever so slightly more at top right and lower left than at lower right and upper left).

If the rollers are sending or taking the film to/from the rails at an angle, it will make the film spools travel to one side and you can get something like this.

Oh, if you have the backing paper, see if there are signs of crimping or running against something one one side. Another sign that the rollers could be slanted.

You may need the film path of your camera adjusted. The cost is probably no high.

I have outlined the approximate viewfinder extent of a Rolleiflex-T (nice camera by the way!). The film, being off slightly in the film frame would not affect your framing when taking the picture. I don't think the film always is centered behind the paper when it is spooled.

Thanks for doing such a great job of posting pictures of your negatives!
I note as I examine clo0sely the edges of those negatives that on the narrow left side - the side with the words, not the frame numbers - there appears to be a regular series of small dots. Those may be stress marks, which could be related to crimping and a problematic film path.
You can see them here in this partial screen shot

I just checked the other 3 rolls i have put through this camera. not all are de-centered (only one other roll is) but they all have these small dots. another thing i was curious about. thank you

Those marks are where the gear runs on the film for measuring the spacing.

Thanks - that is specific to certain cameras of course.

good to know. this is my first and only T—late model 3  i see the gears at the top behind the spool now. don’t see them on my cord and haven’t shot an F in about ten years

it's weird i see the gear in my rolleicord too but the marks do not show up on the negatives.

If the spring is too weak, and the gear slips, the camera could give too much space between thr frames. Is your frame spacing OK?

it’s inconsistent but i get 12 frames. see the pics of negatives. some have more
space between than others. sounds like i should plan on a transport overhaul eventually !

On the Rolleicord the dots are from the actual film drive. It's a gear that drives the takeup spool by friction. They are stress marks.

I guess the rebate is fine. Requires minimal crop. Commercial labs, processing for drugstores, cropped a lot more from images on 35mm film.
