Up for sale is a very nice Nikkormat FT2 with a couple of lenses and flash, a really nice kit for someone looking to learn analog photography (think child, grandchild, niece or nephew) or a really nice backup to your Nikon.
This is the last iteration of the Nikkormat before Nikon went to the Nikon FM. This Nikkormat has the updated cosmetics of the Nikon F2 along with a hot shoe and most important it uses the MS-76 silver battery instead of the older PX-13 mercury.
It retains the other strong points of the classic Nikkormat FTN (my first Nikon circa 1968) with the bright viewfinder and the bullet proof Copal square shutter. Meter works, but may need fine tuning by way of the ASA slider.

It comes with a couple of classic, sharp and contrasty Nikon lenses. First up is a very clean 35mm f:2 lens that was the first wide angle lens that I added to my kit in 1970 and is clean with out any problems. Focus is smooth, with a snappy aperture and f stop ring is smooth. I considered this lens to by my normal lens and once I got it I rarely used my 50mm. This is a Non-AI lens and the optics are very clean. Next is another classic, the 28mm f:3.5 Non -AI The optics are clean, focus is smooth, aperture is snappy, but the f stop ring is a little tight, but usable.

Finally I'm throwing in an SB-15 Nikon flash. It has two Auto ranges, Manual, Motor Drive and TTL functions and fits nicely on this FT2. As an added bonus I'm including a classic silver ring Nikon 52mm Y48 yellow filter.

I would like to get $175 for this very complete kit plus shipping.

Thanks Ralph, I think it is a great kit and would be a wonderful starter camera for some young budding photographer learning analog photography or an experienced digital photographer wanting to expand there photographic vision to include film.
 
Bob, you're selling your camera short. Sure, it would make a good beginner camera, but the Nikkormats were a pro quality 35mm camera that would accept the same Nikkor lenses as its big brother, the Nikon F, but had faster flash sync (1/125th Sec.) They may not take interchangeable finders or a motor drive, but they were--and still are--a quality film camera capable of turning out professional quality work.
 
This is a very nice kit indeed. My very first camera when I was 16, which also hooked me on the very compatible Nikon system. I hope it finds a great home, good luck on the sale Robert!

Alan-The exposure reading can be adjusted by changing the ASA. If the exposure is off by one stop and you are using asa 400 film you can either set the the asa on the camera at 200 or 800 depending on whether it is under or over exposing.

Other than the cosmetic blemish on the top, it's in good use state and I can also shoot/ forward a video of an old pack film holder shooting out the top card when loading.

If you are a large format 4" x 5" shooter, I might just throw in three sheets of type 55, cold stored in fridge, pretty much all their life. No Promises though on the quality of such old film, but the packs are supple, last I looked.

Yes, the FM3a is a great camera. I had an FM2n, an FE2 and an FA along with a couple of F2's and a couple of F's. I have been a Nikon shooter since '68 and love the fact that all my great manual focus AI lenses will still work with my D7100 and D600 DSLR's. I like to think of the FT2 to be the father of the FM series and probably the grandfather of your FM3a.:D BTW, what do you use for a backup for your FM3a?
 
The FT2 was not the last Nikkormat before the FM. In the mechanical line there was also the FT3. The FT3 works with AI/AIS lenses but the AI tab can flip up for non-AI/AIS lenses. What like about the FT2 is that it will work with pre-AI and AI/AIS lenses as long as there is a prong on the lens. Yes, indexing is still needed. The other benefits are the easier to set ASA and the fact that it takes MS-76 batteries. I have enough Nikkormats and Nikomats to sink a ship but I enjoy using them.

An FA, F100 (with one of it's 6 focus points "out") , D7100 And many others.
 
You are absolutely correct the FT3 was the last in the Nikkormat line and is a fairly rare bird as the FM came out shortly after the FT3. My introduction to the Nikon system was the Nikkormat FTN that I picked up in '68. When I was in the Navy and stationed in Gitmo in '70 I was able to order a Nikon FTN, 35mm f:2 and a 105 f:2.5 through mail order out of Holland and it was even cheaper than the PX. I have never looked back. The lovingly cared for 35mm lens is part of the kit that I'm selling.
 
You were lucky, I was too old for the lottery and enlisted in Uncle Sam's Navy in April '68(reserves) After boot camp and A school (Hospital Corp School in Great Lakes) I went on active Duty in '70. Got out in '73 and went back to school on the GI Bill. Got my degree BA and never had to take a loan. How things have changed.
