After a good amount of consideration I've decided it's time for my 6x12 camera grow some little medium format panoramic film wings and make it on its own in the world.

I slowly built this camera over a year or so after reading an artical about a conversion of the the Zeiss Ikonta 520/16 D to 6x12 shooting modern 120 film. It's a hand made one off camera that is fun to shoot, yields some great results and is a certainly a conversation starter, that is for sure! I was going to PlastiDip the body matte black but after seeing how cool it looked after I stripped it, I left it that way silver. Randy at HolgaMods even hit it with his buffer a bit. I'm assuming if it were black it would grab a bit less attention but I really like the silver look.

You get 6 well spaced shots per roll of film. The modern multicoated Linhof select Schneider 47mm f/5.6 just covers the 11cm film gate of the Ikonta. The camera does need to be shot between f/16 and f/22 to insure maximum sharpness and coverage. I usually shoot Provia in the mornings and evenings and really like its look.

The camera ships with 4 spindle adapter from HolgaMods Randy (if you don't know him or his work you should check him out, holgamods.com) the masked off 15mm Voightlander finder and permanently attached Arca mount and bubble levels. The only thing not included is the leather strap which I'm hanging on to it for a future project.

I'm asking $1099.00 (net) which is about what I spent on materials building the camera.

The edges get kinda ratty at f/8 and such. F/16 and 22 is best. Ironically the f/5.6 isn't really rated for 6x12 but the actual 6x11 size and Schneider conservative ratings help. Some people tend to think the Linhof select ones might have better coverage but I doubt that, it's the same design and assembly, just the best looking ones off the line.

If you wanna try building one w/o as much effort you could try a 47mm f5.6 on a pinhole 6x12 Holga...

(PS) if El Chapo was going to be tried in Chicago they were going to hold him there... Cool looking building, especially for a jail...

Very cool. Also very tempting!
Wow if you can do this can´t you also take the back off my Mamiya 7 and weld in a Contax 645 adapter plate so I can use it with my MFDB!

Or maybe add a film back to my coffee machine
