This may be the first time I've ever sold anything here--but I'm a (former) long-time Large Format Forum member with plenty of sales over there and a long-time E-bay member (under "boville") with a great sellers reputation there. My web page is at www.darinboville.com.

Last year I bought two or three Sinar Normas with the thought of CLA-ing them (following Philip Morgan's excellent video tutorial). I did CLA the units, combining pieces to make a single camera. Sold that one but I have lots of pieces leftover.

I'm very uncertain of prices for these--reasonable best offers are welcome. I ship from beautiful Montara, California.

First up is a front standard assembly--everything but the lens board frame. It's in nice condition with the only real flaw being that one of the arm won't accept a metal cap. It looks round but must be slightly off because it won't screw in. No real effect in use because, of course, with even a single cap in place you won't be able to remove the lens mounting frame. I CLA'd it as described.

$150 + shipping

Second, I have a Norma lens board mounting plate. It is in good shape, with both working bubble levels. The little silver metal plate on one side--on the part where you thread a cord or something--is slightly bent. Is that normal? I don't know. One of the holes through which you slide a front assembly rod is tight. I haven't tried to clean or adjust it, I'm assuming this is no big deal. But as it is it is very difficult to get the lens board mount on the front standard assembly.

Third, I have a Norma 4x5 film back with ground glass. Good condition, works perfectly. The only minor complaint would be one of the plastic caps on one screw is tilted. The screw works fine, threads are fine, just the plastic cap is tilted. You could, of course, use this back with my front standard assembly and use it as a rear standard.

$125

New Prices (or best offer)

Front standard assembly, CLA'd: $125

Lens board mounting frame: $75

Film back: $100

All plus shipping from 94037.

Thanks,

The little silver plate seems to be bent on purpose, both the 4x5 and the 5x7 look like this - I've no idea why though.

Since you alluded to having more stuff - you wouldn't have two of these black metal caps? My 4x5 is missing those, and I've been looking for them for a while now.

Yes, I have metal caps. Happy to part things out different than what you see here (within reason). Little to no interest in this so far...I'd hate to sen this all to Goodwill...

FWIW, here's a link to a thread on the LF forum about the thread sizes that fit these caps into the risers on the Sinar standards:

http://www.largeformatphotography.i...ing-Rise-on-Sinar-Norma-Front-Standards/page3

You could use regular 3/8-16 bolts as caps, unless you're really fussy about it not appearing genuine Sinar parts. You might also think of taking a standard to your local hardware store and check the thread fit of a bolt that's similar to 3/8-16 but in a metric size with a proper length; you might also be lucky enough to find a black one that fits.

That's great knowledge - thank you very much! I am sort of pedantic, so I'll see what Darin says about my offer first.

By the way, the thread linked above is ... well, pretty nerdy, I'd say! Good read.

The front standard sold, still have the rest.

New prices:

Rear groundglass/film holder: $40

Lens frame: $25

Also have a bag bellows that came with one of the Normas, seems fine. $35

Also a disassembled front standard for parts. It has been cleaned but is missing to parts--the focusing handle/rod and one of the rail arms. Otherwise looks good. $25.

Shipping extra, from 94037 in California.

It all goes to Goodwill on Saturday so if you want it buy it now or make me an offer!

Can't believe no one wants this stuff...oh well! Off to Goodwill in the morning. Make an offer if you'd like something...

Ok, was busy all weekend and didn't get to Goodwill. Might as well bump this again. Disassembled standard and lens frame spoken for. Read groundglass/film holder frame, bag bellows, rail clamp still available. Make an offer.

Just curious... what do you think Goodwill will do with these items? Around here GCF, not having a clue what they are, would toss them into the recycling bin. Probably best to wait for the right buyer to come along.

I'm sorry to say, that is precisely what they will do. I've seen Goodwill trucks that just picked up tons of things and only keep a few of the best items while taking a large percentage of 'imperfect' items to the dump. These weren't junk items... just might have a tear in the upholstery or maybe slightly faded. They don't want to deal with repairs nor research parts they know nothing about. If it was a complete camera in good condition they'd probably try to sell it. Parts... not likely.

Hmmm. I've posted this on LFF, on E-bay, and here as well. Over a period of months, I think. I've done my best.

--Darin

Yes, you did.

I do not know anything about LF, or these items specifically. Are they rather Proprietary or Obsolete.?
I understand you not wanting them to end up in a land-fill.
Maybe offer them up for shipping...just to get them into needy hands...maybe offer a payment plan.?
Perhaps my questions have already been addressed...sorry if that is the case.
Good Luck My friend

Whew. That was a close call. Nothing going to Goodwill. Everything now has a new home.

Thanks for helping me get this stuff to the right people.
