I am not lucky with original lens hood either the rubber or the metal whose screw was not reliable from previous purchase. Returned and got refunded.

Wonder, are there any after market lens hood with screw mount for Zuiko 35mm f/2.8 or Zuiko 50mm f/1.4?

Any of the 3rd party rubber or metal (for normal focal lengths) should be ok on the 35mm /2.8 and most will work on the /1.4 without vignetting.

I use the rubber 28mm /2.8 or /3.5 Oly hoods normally to save carrying an additional hood(s).

They will withstand a drop test...

I've been happy with the kood universal rubber hood on my 35mm 2.8. They also do a wide angle version. The rubber is stiff enough that it doesn't keep peeling off the ring. Another similar hood had to be superglued on because it kept popping off. on my 28mm I have the original Oly rubber hood.

There are a variety of collapsible rubber lens hoods that screw into the filter thread. Do a Google search or type "rubber lens hood" into Amazon.

I've got a bunch of rubber hoods (I use them shooting video with DSLRs, to seal the lens against the matte box)...

But I kind of dislike them on film bodies... more of an aesthetic thing. They're totally functional and very affordable of course, I just like black metal on an old camera.

If you want metal, between Amazon, Adorama, and eBay, there's all kinds of metal hoods. Just search by filter thread and study the specs and dimensions. They're all very cheap these days.
