Instead of exposing film to a step wedge, I decided to shoot it in camera, with Expo Disc attached to lens... Film was developed in 510-Pyro. A video will follow where I take a roll out in the field for further testing...

Thanks Andy I did a check on dev time in the MDC but the only 2 times listed were such a long way apart ( 11 mins and 20.5 mins respectively) Given your time of 15 mins was close to the middle of the two with the right densities, it suggests that the MDC gives too short and too long times

What as a matter of interest was your first dev time ?

Glad you remembered to take both important discs

And when I was finished, one disc went missing....
At the 2:45 mark, I show that that first roll was developed for MDC's time of 11:00. And yes, way too short for my liking. Okay for people who just want to scan their negs. If I recall, the 20.5 time at MDC is for semi-stand...
The 15 minute time seems ideal for me, so I will stick with it. I'll upload a follow up video next week... Eventually, I want to give semi-stand a go.

Thanks I should have looked at the notes on the MDC times and I had completely missed the 11 mins despite looking twice on the video before asking the question

Time I started to eat donuts for improved blood flow through the brain

Andrew, this is a really interesting approach because it really digs deep into the film's performance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video.

I hope it's okay to add a couple of plots for Kentmere 100 and 400 (in 120 size) developed in D-76. Both films performed very well, giving box speed in my test.

The MDC reflects development times submitted by users. They may be right or they may be wrong. They are not verified.

The 11:00 time is for normal development. The 20:30 time is for semi-stand development. It doesn't make sense to me that you would average the time for normal development with the time for semi-stand development to arrive at a better time for normal development where 11:00 yields thin negatives. Just add time.

The Zone Imaging site shows 11:00 for Kentmere 400/510 Pyro 1:100. James Lane probably just pulled the time off the MDC.

Andrew, I was a little surprised that you achieved full box speed. It does seem that some people get better speed out of that developer than I did (only tried it once). I wondered if you use the Expo Disk regularly in your testing, because I wondered if it gives a different reading to your meter than, say, a plain target. (I have an ExpoDisk which I've used occasionally when pre-exposing a contrasty scene but not for full frame speed testing)

Some interesting results, Andy. I had expected the red filter to darken the sky more than it did in that shot of the distant tree and yes, I thought the no filter shot of it was much better

Needless to say I was quite taken aback by the poor result that the red filter gave... I will try it again for another subject with this film. Thank you for your comments!
