Ralph,

First, thank you for providing this. I printed & assembled one of your dials a couple years ago and use it every time I photograph. I love it.

Second, I don't have my dial in front of me. How does the new one differ?

Just to let you know.

There is a new version of my popular ZoneDial available as a free download from the Library section of my site. As always, print it, glue it on card board and off you go.

Enjoy, comments are welcome at info@darkroommagic.com

Ralph. I have your site bookmarked but hadn't fully explored it until I saw this thread.

In the library I can download the Zonedial but I cannot look at the file on the Pentax digital meter and the reciprocity file only seems to list allowances for T-max but mentions several films.

Is it my browser or is there a problems with some of the library files?

Thanks

Please download the pdf and take a look if it prints. The files look OK on my screen. However, remember that the Pentax dial is very small, since it has to fit on the meter. The reciprocity chart list allowances for Tmax100, 400 and conventional films. That list will be updated later this year, since my partner Chris Woodhouse conducted a detailed test. I just haven't gotten to update the chart yet.

Let me know if you still have problems.

Matt

Thanks for the nice words and I'm glad it is of some help. I use it often. There have been several versions of the dial since 1998. Your's may not differ much. Old ones had the time scale upside-down. Others had no shadow and highlight points. The last change was the addition of 'EV' to the top plate and a more realistic representation of the gray Zone values for modern laser printers. There might be too little change for you to reprint and assemble a new one.

Thanks a lot Ralph, it`s a really helpful tool. Ten minutes outside with the Zonedial and my spotmeter, and I realized how bad I have been evaluating scene brightness.Even on a bright sunny day here in Oslo, I have no problem finding scenes that calls for N+1 development.

I love this zone dial! Mike Castles (photomc) showed me his last year in Texas, and I downloaded & assembled mine when I got home. Have been using it ever since! :D

Thanks, Ralph!
