Since Centenial POP paper disappeared and life went to hell for me personally, at about the same time, I have not printed anything. I have recently started to build a UV light box with the intention of beginning carbon printing.

As I was watching Jim Fitzgerald's carbon videos I noticed a video for Ziatype in the "suggested videos" and watched. I had heard about Ziatype a long time ago so popped over here and did a search.

I like a good POP and in the grand scheme of things the kit is pretty inexxpensive at around $3/ 8x10 if you get the big kit.

I am not seeing a lot of people discussing the process, and there is not a lot of info on the net. Is there a reason this seems to not be a popular process? Am I wrong in thinking that?

I have been doing Platinum/palladium for many years and finally decided to try Ziatype. I really like it and find it to be way more flexible than Platinum printing. Where are you located? I took a workshop in Boston at Digital Silver Imaging with Anne Eder. She's one of Christopher James associates.
She is doing another one at Penumbra foundation in New York soon. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.
there are tricks with every process and Ziatype is no exception. You're not going to find lots of info on the web as we are a small group.
Best, Peter

I'm in the Desert Southwest a long way from everything.

What did you mean when you said flexibility?

Not saying ziatype is not a fine POP process, but why not try salt printing which is closer to the Centennial POP. And also, you can mimic the POP process itself. Lots of material on that subject.

To be quite honest, The salt print never intrigued me. I have no idea why Ziatypes have intrigued me. Maybe it is my connection to New Mexico, who knows. That is why I started with Centennial POP paper, it intrigued me.
