Having sucessfully adjusted the focus of two other Zeiss folders, the 521/16 and the 521/2 in which I removed the scale focus rings by unscrewing the 3 grub screws, I thought I would tackle the 536/16. I had more problems as the grub screws were much harder to remove and necessitated more force. I did remove the scale focus ring but while testing the focus I removed and put on the ring several times. The final time I secured the ring with 1 grub screw but 2 other screws were so mangled that I was unable to tighten them. So far the the ring is secure but I will never want to remove it again for any reason. Is there a trick that would have helped me like a very small dab of WD40? Any other thoughts?
I did learn the hard way that you never remove the grub screws completely or you will spend a 1/2 hour or more trying to screw them back in the hole.

Water Displacant #40 is not a good product for cameras. https://wd40.com/cool-stuff/history
Screws in cameras are often set with a thread locker similar to clear nail polish. Nail polish remover works well to dissolve it.

Here nail-polish remover all contain additives. Often curing ones as wax.
I would not use them on photo gear. Rather a plain solvent instead. A good starting point would be acetone. Be aware acetone attacks some plastics and other varnishes. Apply it by a grade 0 or 00 brush.
