I get the feeling that those will be the only V system lenses as Hasselblad will be discontinuing all the others.
Why?
- They have reverted back to the metallic look.
- They call them "classic".
- They cover the three common lengths: wide-angle, macro and portrait telephoto. They probably figured they don't need a "normal" perspective.
- They don't seem different in specs from the ones present (the 120 has a typo that could either mean the larger apperture is 2 or 4).

I think the new V catalog will be very, very thin...

They do look nice, however I am inclined to vote with Ari on this one. It is possible there is nothing "new" about these lenses. A good marketing move however, and a nice way to sell some of the old barrel inventory with new nomenclature....

there are disgressonary dollars to be had in the market, this month's Men's Vogue has a nice full page ad from Leica for the M series film camera, you can choose your color, have it in red if you will and with matching lens caps no less!

"Classic" lenses? Doesn't that smell like nostalgia, although the V system is still current? Wait a minute...

"Grandpa, you're not retiring, you've only become an icon, a classic!"

I can't believe it but Carl Zeiss has introduced three lenses for the Hasselblad 500 series cameras.

Here is the LINK.

VERY COOL! Though I am certain like with most Hasselblad equipment, there is no way I could buy a lens new!

I'm not a 'Blad user, but this is the best line I've read all day: "ZEISS ZV Classic lenses contain no electronics whatsoever. They can therefore be used for many years without losing their value." (From the bottom of the Zeiss page linked above.)

I think it's cool that CZ is releasing these lenses again. I'm interested in the 50 f/4 Distagon...but am afraid as to how much it will cost...

I will be buying them once they are available. I just emailed calumet to see if there was a time frame.

I was thinking about selling my car and since it is in silver to it would not be so hard to get over the loss..

Well...I guess we weren't meant to see the new lenses as Zeiss has killed the page with the info on it.

Remember "New Coke" and the return to the "original formula" in "Classic Coke"... which is not quite the same as the original. :surprised:

Seems like I've seen that knurling style before- on Cosina Noktons

This is an interesting development. I was assuming that the V was going to go out of production and I was pondering the possibilities of collecting Hassie cameras for fun and profit (Since they are better cameras, image wise, than Leica's, I figured they would become collectables and soon demand Leica-like prices). I'll put that idea on hold for a while.

Nice, but can I have them in black finish please?
(from a CF series user)

Cheers

André

Well, I don't know what's going on with your computer, but the pages are still there as of 20s ago.

I think I'll be the lone dissenter here. While I understand the nostalgic appeal and the retro fashion look to the lenses, I think they look ugly. I'm glad I bought my CFE and CFi lenses. Just my tastes. I hope they don't replace the CFE line with these lenses, THAT would be a marketing hiccup, I think.

Regards, Art.

That was the rumor for sure, but Hasselblad made a statement that they were NOT going to discontinue the "V" series. Who knows what is really going to happen.

While I am not crazy about the looks of the lens, it is more about how well they work in the system, yeah? Given Zeiss' reputation and the fact they designed the lenses in the first place ... should be better the average, no? :D
