I just bought a Zeiss Ikon Nettar II 517/16 to add to my collection of folders and have a question about the Vario shutter. The shutter speeds, as marked on the lens, are B, 25, 75 and 200. However, I just watched a YouTube video this morning suggesting that the shutter speeds are continuous; that is, in-between settings are possible. Can anyone who shoots one of these cameras confirm this? If I set the speed dial slightly beyond "75" will I get 1/100?

Thank you.

I don't know, but you can find out by making an audio recording of the shutter and measuring the time between the open and close blips in a free audio program like Audacity.

Thanks for the idea. I'll look into that.

My guess is that the shutter will have 'flat spots' at 25, 75 & 200 so that when the pointer is even close to these positions the speed will be as marked.

With a 3:1 ratio between shutter speeds you should be able to look through the lens as you change to intermediate speeds and get an idea if the transition is smooth or abrupt.
