So I just got a Zeiss Ikon Ideal 225 Folding Camera and it works great, but it did not come with a film holder. I tried doing some research online, but there is hardly any information. I looked on ebay for a film pack meant for this type of camera and came up empty. Is there any other film holder that can snap onto the back like I am supposed to use for my camera or any alternative? I found on ebay a listing for ICA 3x4 1/2 film plate holders and I know my camera used to be ICA so I am wondering if that would work. Any information would be happily received since I know very little of the camera. Thanks!

What size film is the camera designed for? 9x12? I am a bit rusty in my Ideal 225 camera knowledge. If it is 9x12 and uses the slide in film holders, there were a number of spring backs made for them in the '50s for adapting them to 'normal' 3x4 film holders. Works on my Zeiss Ikon Trona. Nothing like the look of a pre war Tessar lens.

Oh yeah, welcome to APUG.

There were Quarter plate and 9x12 plate holders made for these cameras, you need to add a film adapter which fits inside.

Quarter plate film is rather expensive and only available through the yearly Ilford ULF order where as 9x12 film is readily available in a wider range of B&W emulsions and some colour as well because it's a Continental European standard size.

9x12 holders are readily available from Germany, search Ebay.de as they don't map over to the US ebay.com properly, logins etc are common for all Ebay as are watched items etc.

Film pack holders were very common but are now useless but were more sold rather than darkslides for film.
