Hi, perhaps a little complicated this question I have.

I have the Zeiss Ultron 50/1.8 with the concave front element, in M42 mount. I am using it with an adapter on a Minolta XD which is fine to a point. Wide open it works well in automatic metering, just like a Minolta lens. When I close the lens I must push a lever on the lens that closes the lens to the set aperture. The viewfinder darkens. This is also quite ok. I believe it is called stopdown metering, but I am never sure if that is correct.

Anyway, the cameras for which this lens was made, the Icarex in the first place, allow open aperture metering if I understand it correctly. After the Icarex came the Zeiss Ikon SL 706 and then the Voigtlander VSL 1. Am I correct that these are the only three cameras that will do open aperture metering with this lens?

If that is so I would like to hear some opinions about which one would be preferable.

Thanks ! Michael
