Hello,
I am relatively new to this forum and this is my first post, although I do read things here from time to time. I own several very nice vintage cameras and I love using them. However, I have a problem with one of them that I hope someone can help with.

I have recently finished off a roll of 35mm film in my lovely old Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super BC (the one with the removeable film back). I rewound the film, inserted the metal shim in the back, and turned the latches at the bottom of the camera. Unfortunately, nothing happens. The film back will not release and come off and I cannot retrieve the film or use the camera at this point.

I do not own a manual for this camera so I have nothing to refer to. I can probably send this camera off for a repair and have the problem resolved but I wouldn't know how to fix it if it ever happened again. I am hoping that someone out there can lead me to some solution to my problem.

Thank you in advance for you assistance,
Pioneer

I'm not sure about the Contaflex, but the Contarex removable back will not come off unless the shutter is cocked

You can find a pdf of the manual here.

He has the manual to the Super BC near the top, and near the bottom is a manual for the interchangeable backs. Hopefully that'll help! I have a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Beta myself, but it doesn't have these kinds of backs. Good to see you here, and good luck!

Thank you very much

As simple as that. I inserted the metal plate, turned the left hand latch, cocked the shutter, turned the right hand latch and it practically fell out in my hands. Don't ask me to repeat this.

Again, your assistance is greatly appreciated. Onward and forward, another roll of film!!

Thanks for the link to the manual. I guess I am going to have to learn enough German to read the one on the interchangeable backs!
