Zeiss has new lenses for Hasselblad system

I just received this information today and am passing it along to those who might care.

Zeiss has announced their medium format V-Mount Classic Lenses for the original Hasselblad camera.

They have three lenses coming out... all in a silver finish and all using the latest technology and glass. The production of each lens is limited to 1000 lenses. Each lens comes in a presentation box as well.

Distagon 4/50MM ZV $5,534 June 08
Makro-Planar 4/120mm ZV $5,145 May 08
Sonnar 4/180mm ZV $5,145 Aug 08

Ummm, shouldn't that be-- Zeiss has new lenses for rich collectors that happen to collect Hasselblad.

Those are the lenses Hasselblad and Zeiss announced some time ago.
They just seem to be collector's items (as they have nothing new compared
to the CFE lenses but their "vintage" silver finish) before the V system line is discontinued,
probably in one or two years.

Not really. They are third party, non-original items.
Maybe for someone who collects Zeiss though.

Isn't the 50mm, a non Floating Lens Element, which is not the current design?

No matter, these lenses are not for photographers. They are for collectors.

I saw these at PMA two shows back. One of the more interesting things they were showing at the time was Hasselblad lenses--these same ones I think--in Hartblei tilt-shift mounts for EOS and Nikon.

Hey Rob,
who said it was the latest glass and technology? I remember reading that these were new barrels but "new old stock" glass.

It in fact is the current design, but without the FLE-setting ring.

Makes producing these things a bit cheaper.
And, as Zeiss (!) said, we silly this-and-thats do not know how to use the FLE-setting ring properly anyway.
So they are doing us a favour, really, by not giving us the option...

The magic dust that is used to produce these lenses has gotten very expensive in the last few years because of the ongoing strike of the elves who produce the dust.

And the Floating Element does only make a difference in close-up work anyway!

I certainly don't need the ring, that´s why I own the Distagon CF 50mm non-FLE version.
