What's not to love about Bob Carnie?

"You can see its messy, but you know what, that's my life."

I mean really, this 51 minute video gives us SO much more content than simple printing procedures. LOL!

Some kind words.. I think... All my videos were shot by one of my good friends son, we started when he was 11 (father and son both video buffs) and continue today. We are about to launch about 20 more.. I feel that these low key type take the snobbery , the elitism, out of the picture but rather concentrate on simple issues. I actually have over 500k worth of equipment in my workshop, but these are only tools , what I am trying to put out is the thought process and workarounds that I have learned the hard way and by others..It also must be pointed out that in all my youtube videos you are not seeing a can of beer off to the side, My visit with young Martin and his Dad are fun and social for us and we plan to keep this way moving forward.

I hope you learn some little tricks Christopher, photography is overwhelming and keeping it simple is a key for me.

Bob, my compliments indeed. I genuinely love your attitude towards things. The bit about Japanese music playing in the background cracked me up, because I think sometimes people get too “fussy” with processes. I thoroughly enjoyed all 51 minutes of that video and I look forward to watching more!

I really appreciate the workman like attitude. And the can of beer just out of sight explains the beer burps. Perfect!

Bob I too greatly appreciate the video. It takes a lot of mystery out of the process.

A question about registration. Is it possible to use a standard three-hole punch (say for 8x10)? Would the registration pins you use work with these holes?

I use a commercial Stoesser Punch system common in pre press and photocomp situations with floating pins at the plate burner and firmly glued pins on my registration light table. the key to registration is the center hole is circular, and the two outside are oblong with space for the film to find itself and flatten properly one it is put in a vacumn easel.
I would personally not consider using a three hole punch for complicated work.

You can make tri-colour gums without pin registration. I've always just eyeballed registration with +4 dollar store specs, and tape. My exposure table is for screen printing, and exposes from below, making pin registration difficult. But if I were printing as much as Bob is, for himself and his clients, I'd definitely invest in such a registration system... and same exposure unit! One day ....post covid....when I'm in Toronto, I'd really like to pop by for a visit, Bob!
