My "Best Nikon Ever Made" is the one in my avatar. Yes, the original F-mount camera. Second best, F2AS.

For some people, TBNEM may be a D-word. For others, none of them. Truly is subjective.

I agree about the batteries and my best camera is not the Nikon but the Hasselblad. 4"x5" is fun to play with but I tend not to use it for the most serious work.

I adore my F4. My Nikon F4. And I bring it with me often.

(For unobtrusive street photography or for social gatherings, my Asahi Pentax SV with clip-on meter sometimes comes with.)

Agree, a camera is a camera is a camera.

If we are talking 35mm SLR / rangefinder (not waist viewfinders) or point and shoot , once you point that lens whether its an Olympus XA or a full blown Nikon you are either spotted or not.

So what difference does it make.

... so, that's the question. There is a psychological effect on the people at the event. To some extent it depends on whether it's a gathering of all friends, co-workers, or how many are there you barely know. I think the reaction to a large digital camera with equally large lens will be different than what you get with a little 1970's film rangefinder or an instant film camera.
