I posted a wanted ad for a 4x5. Are you happy now? Where does it end? By the end of this year I'm going to have an 8x10 and a Cirkut...I swear. I'm selling my PS2! Darn you, fellow ape-huggers. Darn you to the deepest bellows (no pun intended) of heck.

It's ok Stephanie, they've already got me investigating wet plate.. (Kerik just HAD to post those shots didn't he!) In a few years I'll probably have an old van converted to a rolling 4x3foot wetplate system!

But my PS2! The staple of my video gaming life for the last 4 years! Oh, how I will miss thee... You know you're serious about photography when you finally start giving up the gaming gear. I'm keeping the new Gameboy Micro, though. I haven't played through the four games I have for that yet.

Are We to blame that you are weak ?
Just give in Stephanie, just give in WOAHAHAHAHAAA (Insert devil smilie)
Welcome to the Darks(l)ide

As an Amateur psychiatrist I can offer you some help that will keep you from buying more cameras (because my fee is so huge you can't afford anything else)
BTW I know how hard it is not to give in. I'm fighting it every day. No more cameras for me. At least not after I get.....

I'm just giving in. I can't not have one for the summer...I won't have an enlarger that can handle it, but I can contact print the negatives.

Yeah, well, I guess you're just not steadfast and strong like the rest of us :D
(Please, please DO sense the sarcasm!)

I have kept myself from the LF gear by explanations of budget (like that ever stopped anyone) and lack of enlarger... Well, a good friend just bought a 4x5 capable enlarger... and I have seen some real deals... Oh my poor, poor wallet!

Peter.

The deal I missed hurt me...badly. $56 for a Speed Graphic with 5 holders and a 90mm Rodenstock lens...I'm still banging my head against the wall for not being home that night.

I'm SOOOOO happy I just bought myself new enlarger and it can handle just small 6x7 negatives  Now, I have really good excuse why i don't need LF (or gsw690, 6x12 panoramatic etc etc...). Now, I'm just sorry I didn't buy just 6x6...there are still some cameras that I _need_ and can enlarge from.

Well...there is still contact printing. I'm trying really hard to forget that someting like that exists.

I will NOT part with the Gameboy Micro unless absolutely necessary. I have to at least play through Tales of Phantasia ONCE. :D

I just came across a stereo camera I WANT. Fortunately it's expensive enough that I will have to think about it. I swear if it were $100 cheaper I would have bought it already. And I still haven't finished restoring the 8x10" Gandolfi. And I've just loaded film in the holders for the 24x30cm camera, then "just a little peek before I head out into the snow"...

BTW Stephanie, how is your darkroom design going?
Have you got all the required basic equipment?

Cheers

It could be worse Stephanie: you could have been a WOW addict. Atleast with the 4x5 you might get out once every few weeks.

It's coming. I'm going to need a rope to hang over the shower to dry prints on, some print hangers, some film hangers, and the chemicals. Still debating on a first paper developer, though.

Stephanie... this place does have a way of emptying your wallet. I've made recent forays onto LF myself. It never would have occurred to me on my own! :D

Good luck on this adventure... can't wait to see some results in the galleries!

Dear Ms. Newly Addicted ,

Have a look at the attached photo for a glimpse of the latest hi-tech combination paper and negative hanger. All parts available at the hardware store. The metal clip hnging on the shelf is a shower curtain clip. It's passed thru' the metal hook on a clothes pin and then the shower curtain hook can be expanded to either clip onto a shelf or pass over a shower curtain rod which itself can easily be installed into any shower for drying prints and negatives over a tub - all for less than $20.00 - leaving you more money to put into your savings account so that you'll have the cash available when you've exhausted your lust for 8x10 and need to move to ........

All I can think of, while reading this thread, is Tommy's reply in "Oh brother, where art thou." He is asked if he sold his soul to the devil in exchange for learning to play the guitar "real good." His reply was "I wasn't using it for anything." tim

If you're going to contact print for a while, just skip to a 5x7. The contact prints are much nicer, and the camera is not MUCH bigger. Of course 8x10 is nicer still. The 7x11 format looks nicer to my eye, though. And the one 8x20 print I've made is just amazing. Seriously, though, 5x7 is the way to go for contact prints. Of course you could get BOTH.

I thought stop bath means that you pour it all over you to stop taking baths...
No wonder everything living in a radius of six kilometers around me dies instantly.
You guys are my only friends!

Stay away from LF Stephanie! Soon you will be growing a beard and sporting a cowboy hat let alone becoming a hideously deformed hunchback from carrying the gear to god-forsaken mountainous regions.
