There are a lot of very beautiful places around the globe which I have not visited. Yosemite is my favorite because I literally grew up there. From the time I was a very small child my parents took me there several times a year. When I was 12 they gave me my 1st camera to record the beauty there. That got me hooked on photography and I built my 1st darkroom at age 14. When I started driving I went there every year and continue to do so. The grand vistas there have been photographed to death but I look for the details that most overlook when I go there. I met Ansel Adams there in 1976 and he autographed a book and postcard I had bought from his gallery. I don't try to emulate his vision but do admire his craft. It is just a peaceful place that gives me great joy.
Yes I have been to a number of oases that are far off the beaten path. It's really cool to spend the night in one of them. Lots of critters only come out at night.
Wade, my favorite place on earth! Met up with Vaughn at the end of February so we could give our 8x10's a workout. Looking for the off the beaten trail image is the most fun. Winter and Fall are my favorite times.

I've been there in all 4 seasons. Spring is great because of the amount of water pouring over the cliffs and coursing through the valley.
Winter is my other favorite time. The snow on the river banks and on the peaks make for a great variety of picture possibilities.
It was less crowded years ago but if you know where to look there are still very private areas.
