I have come across an article on shutterbug while world wide webbing. It seems someone named Hoffman has taken the design of the Kodak Master view camera to produce a full line of cameras and other good things for photographers.

The link: http://www.shutterbug.net/columns/0600sb_wetried/

Let me know what you think!

Actually they've been around for a long time. Interestingly, however, I've seen little commentary about them.

Yes, actually the article was written in the year 2000. A full web search does not return any information about this company. Strange!

Actually the Hoffman Company was around for a long time. The gentleman was an interesting fellow and made some good products. If you aren't getting any info on the company you can presume that he retired. I do have a catalog somewhere of his masterview camera so if someone is interested I can dig it out.

I met him at a photo show in new York some years ago when he was showing off his prototype of his metal camera. It was very nice. He let me work with it and when I tightened down on one of the controls that locked the rear standard in place it snapped off! He ws rather ticked off, but I told him it at least served the purpose of showing a weakness in his design, which he admitted to and calmed down. His metal film holders looked awesome and occasionally come up on eBay - I believe he made vaccum holders, too. I can't recall if his camera ever made it to market or not.
