Hi from Sacramento!
Just got back into "real" photography after a 15 year break. Thanks to a old pentax me super I picked up at a second hand store.
I use to own a camera store at Oak Harbor Wa. But had to let it go due to lack of sales after Kmart moved into town.
So when your use to taking beautiful pictures up in Washington from your own back door, it's hard to get excited about taking pictures in Sacramento. So I got rid of all my gear and just pouted for the next 15 years till I picked up that Pentax. Now I'm in the process of getting back all my old gear.
I'm not into the processing aspect of it. But I work at a drug store and I'll just use the one hour machine there.

Glad you finally made it!

I beg your pardon, there is nothing old fashion about me! Well, maybe my music choices but that's it! My cameras (well, my most used ones) are brand new and so is a large part of my darkroom! Let alone that film, paper and chemicals have to be new and fresh otherwise they are not much of use.

So, you are from Sacramento... is that a real place?

Sac is a real place, and they have great pizza joints and crusing spots, you ought to get out of Greece and see the world!

Welcome back. I'd almost bet that we could *get* you interested in the processing aspect of it. I wasn't going to process my own color when I first started shooting again two years ago...now, though, I'm thinking about it due to lack of good labs for either C-41 process or E6 process.

And just wait...the large format bug will bite you, too.

Welcome back to the reel world, Daniel. As Bob F. said, we'll have you up to your elbows in DR chems in no time.

And, Sacto isn't so bad. There's Old Town, the speeding Hummer, and all that stuff. Plus, you're just a short drive from the Gold Country.

It's funny you should mention the B&W Processing bug. My pop had a great dark room in the basement of our house. Even had the rotating door. A "must" for serious Star Trek role playing I can recall.
I had a 126 instamatic and a really nice 110. So I thougt.
Yeah. I can very easily get a dark room going again.
I wonder if Omega is still makes enlargers. And kitty litter pans worked great for developing trays. I bet they still do!
And By golly I have a yashicaMat somewhere!!!

Back in the old days in the old camera shop on Whidbey Island I had a customer who asked if I could sell a old Graphflex he had for him. It included film backs. a flash and I even think it had the means to use roll film if my memory serves me right. ( Christ! I sound like a 86 year old men!) And it was all in a fantastic grey hard case made for the camera.
Anyway this guy dies and I still have this old cameral. Well I looked it over and played around with it and just fell in love with it! So I ordered some illford BW sheet film for it. It wasn't 4x5 but smaller. So I packed up the car and went up to Mt Baker and took about a dozen shots. I remember the routine of setting up the shot and then sliding the film backs on and taking the shot. It was a lot of fun. I was really looking foward to these shots. I mean I was being so technical with these shots. Hand held light meter and even using a gray card.
So I sent the film off to the "my" stores lab and I have written all over the envelope. "Caution! Sheet film enclosed."
So a few days later my order comes back and with it is an apology letter stating that the tech had no idea what sheet film was and your Kits Camera Dealer will be more then happy to give you a free roll of any 35mm film and free processing with that as well.
"Well thanks guys! I'm the dealer you idiots! It was my film you destroyed!"
Then to make things worst I made the mistake of using the Graphflex for a window display and along comes this guys widow who had forgotten all about that camera untill she saw it in the window. What a great gift that would make for her nephew!
That was in the late 80's when I was in my 20's and I was always going to get another graphflex but never did. As a matter of fact I finally tossed the illford film in the trash a just year or so ago.
