I managed to get a T4 at a thrift store for $1.
On the same theme, here is a roll of $1 film processed for $1.

Pics to follow.. I wouldnt mind having a separate SLR and P&S forums. The snooty rangefinder peeps get one!

1. American river. Looks a bit underexposed, as does the negative. I'll have to read up on the T4 to see if there are any adjustments available.

2. american river
Again a little under exposed, looks like it focussed on the background.

3. american river
Yet another shot.. this time it managed to focus in a cool way.

Certainly these first three would be hard for any system, and even though I felt they were a tad underexposed, I think a full stop would have lost detail in the sky. A printable negative, any good printer or scanner tech would have no problem.

3. Easter
This had some fill flash.. I forget if it was on auto or the mode which I think is for fill.

4. Easter
Needed to grab this quick. The mode resets to auto each time you turn it on.

6. and 7. Trees
The camera does a very nice job with scenic views. Sharp and well exposed.

Ah found the manual here

OK so there is focus/AE lock which would help a bunch of my shots immensely.

Conclusion: A very capable camera with a sharp lens is a small package.

It underexposes, due to DX coding only.

NO there aren't.
That's why I traded away, the Yashica T4, for an Olympus XA w A16.

Even if it's only aperture priority, I can completely,
set the ISO & f-stops. So, I can get whatever settings I want.

By the way,the reason that the Yashica T4, underexposes color negative film, is because it's DX
coding only. To get good exposure on color negative exposure, you have to rate it +1 stop, generally.

This is impossible to do, with the Yashica's because there is no manual override.
It should work great for slide film, though. I never got to testing it.

I dont have the t4 super... just the t4. The front is a bit scratched (not the lens) so I doubt it would get top dollar. The little PS cameras are a goldmine.. the thrift stores just throw em in with the crappers.. though they are ofen in bad shape because of it.

The Yashica T4 does have focus/exposure lock. so in the example pics i could have aimed at something medium or darker if I wanted extra exposure. Then recomposed and finished the shot. I beleive this is allways enabled, unlike the olympus stylus.

You still may be able to get new dx code stickers to place on the film cannisters to change the ASA. Or the code for the ASA you want to shoot at may be faked by using electrical tape to change how the camera reads the code on the 35mm cannister. I have 2 t4 Supers and love them.
