Hi! First post here. I recently got a Yashica Samurai Z and while everything seems to work fine, the lens is a bit clouded or "Oxidazed" I've been looking online to see if it is possible to clean it but I haven't found anything... If anyone knows how to get it open or has done it It would help me a lot. Thanks!
Electronic cameras from that period is rather difficult to service, so unless you find some documentation the best option may be to accept it as part of the vintage aesthetics.
Give us a couple of more details. Is the view through the SLR system cloudy or just the lens itself? Do the final images appear cloudier than you expect? The pics from any Z should be very sharp -- excluding camera movement.
Depending on where the cloudiness is, it's probably difficult to get at it.
If anyone has seen a service manual on any film-based, Samurai, please let us know.
Same as my Y35 I got curious as to how bad this camera is (and I somehow I like it) so I bought a sealed copy from a local seller. After opening it, notice the lens is cloudy. Exact same as your case.
Test shots came out ok, strangely but the hazy look irritates me. Will bring it out for a shoot today and see how bright day light affects the photos, with this hazy lens.
Do you have any test shots? Hard to find someone with the same issue as me
