Yashica MG -1 lens wobble

My Yashica MG-1 has some wobble in the lens, it doesn't appear to be the mount but more likely the focusing helix. My service manual doesn't really show how to get to this, does anyone know how to fix this? Does the shutter have to come out in pieces or can it come out as a whole unit? Never gone past the shutter on these, never had a need to.

I've already fixed all the other issues with this camera and this is the only thing left. It is a problem because it does move the focus coupling cam and move the split image patch, affecting focus ability.

Well, this particular camera does not invest me with experience. I do not think that I ever even handled one.

However, wobble can be caused by, probably, one of two things. First, open the back and look at the rear part of the lens. Does it have a ring around it? Usually, with RFs of this type, the lens component is held onto the body with a threaded ring (that might now be loose).

Another possibility would be to remove the front logo ring (should unscrew) and dive into the innards without being too 'distructive'. There just might be some screws loose which could easily be tightened. I have a feeling that this problem might not be too difficult, but I do not want to impart any guarantees here. As you look, both intently and gently, wobble the lens to try to determine just what is loose.

Yeah I have looked, these are mounted to the body with a lens board of sorts. The base of the lens is solid, it's just from the focus ring forward. I'm afraid it's just worn focus helix. The construction appears similar to the E35 GSN, same copal shutter too.

I just wish my E35 service manual covered it...

NO, there ARE screws that need tightening. At least you have zeroed into the general location. I would begin like I said, from the logo ring downward. You are SURE that there is absolutely NO WOBBLE on the rear element? - David Lyga
