Yashica Mat cocking mechanism

Hi,

I was just given this awesome Yashica Mat, and took it apart to fix the winding mechanism. The shutter cocks fine by hand, and fires off beautifully, but the cocking arm that comes out of the winding mechanism doesn't move far enough to cock the shutter. It is attached by a slotted piece of metal onto a pin. The slot allows for a fair amount of play and doesn't give a lot of effective movement. Has anyone run into this problem? I feel like i am missing something simple, but the only thing I can figure out is that I somehow lost a part that regulated the size of the slot. The metal has tracks that show that the cocking arm went all the way to the end in the past. See photos for better explanation. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

If you were given a camera with a mechanical problem it is quite possible that someone has attempted a repair previously and either lost a part or damaged something. Some of the screws in your pictures have damaged slots - if that was not you, it was someone else.

That was me, I've opened it up a few times trying to figure out out. It looked unopened when I got it, at least that part (someone had scratched the mirror). I also tried bending the pivoting arm to make it move further down, thinking that maybe it had been bent by someone trying to force the winding, but it really wasn't bent out of its original shape.
