ive recently acquired a yashica fx 7 and i got it to work but the problem is the shutter speeds remain the same and the shutter selector can spin a full 360 degrees now. how can i reengage the shutter speed in the shutter assembly? can i do it without disassembly of the whole shutter?

The shutter speed selector will always spin 360 degrees, there is no mechanical stop.

What shutter speed are you getting?

As far as I remember, the FX-7/FX-3 shutter dial will turn a full 360 degrees normally but some of the other Copal Square mechanical shutters won't (the Contax S2 for instance).

It depends where it's become decoupled as to how to fix it. If you are still getting the click stops then it's not the dial itself or the mechanism immediately below it so you'll have to remove the top plate at least. If the dial is spinning freely without any click stops then remove the dial and take a look under it.

You can get the service manual and assembly drawings off my website (for free) at https://www.contax139.co.uk/documentation
