Hi - I have an fx-3 super 2000 which has intermittently started releasing the shutter when winding the film on. There is no patter to this, it is quite random but more recently it has been happening more and more.

I took the camera apart today to take a look if there was anything instantly obvious. The only thing I noticed was when I removed the base cover, there was a screw head which had presumably sheered off at some point in time. I searched and search to see where this could have come from but to no joy.

I really hope to get this camera working again because it is a joy but I am stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The Super 2000 has mostly plastic gears. I have one but I am very gentle with it. I have had good luck with the regular FX-3. The FX-3 is similar to a number of other models made by Cosina and is easy to get repaired. I found a good material to recover the FX-3. It's called Life Safe soft textured vinyl traction strips. They come in two-packs of 4X9" each. My repairman removes the adhesive on the back and uses Pliobond to attach it to the camera. One strip is enough for one FX-3. I have three overhauled FX-3s covered in black material and one in gray. The two advantages of the Super 2000 are the more solid covering material which doesn't need to be changed and the top shutter speed of 1/2000. The disadvantage is that it is very lightly made.

Hi - I've also bought a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 recently, somewhere in August 2020 and my camera has developed the same issue yu were having with your shutter mechanism. I tried to look up for any fixes in the repair manual shared by Peter on this same thread but I'm confused about what is not happening correctly with the model I have. Any help about how you figured out the issue and fixed it would be really helpful. One more thing I've observed is that it happens only when I have mounted any lens on the body. While I tried to look at the mirror operation by removing the lens, the shutter worked perfectly as it should. But just when I mount any lens on it, it randomly starts appearing.

Thanks in advance!
