Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Yashica FX-2 on eBay, but the plastic focus screen is completely fogged - it looks like someone tried to clean it with some kind of industrial cleaner at some point. I've been looking online, but I can't find any direct replacement screens . I have a few questions:
1. Can a damaged focus screen be restored? Is it possible to buff out the layer that's deteriorated or is replacement the only option?
2. Can a focus screen from a similar camera be used as a replacement or cut to fit?
3. How should I go about disassembling the camera and removing the focus screen? I've found service manuals for the FX-3 but I haven't been able to find one for the FX-2. Both cameras seem similar mechanically but I'm not sure how close they are.
