Hello All!

I am really enjoying my recently acquired Yashica D TLR, but the original strap... ermm, not so much.

I was looking at the OpTec Super Pro Strap, and noticed they have 2 models, the A and B, based on lug size.

Would like to know if anyone has purchased one of these straps to clip the strap on the lugs, and if so, if you purchased the A or B model, or if anyone knows the lug size. I have googled this as well as searched in yuotube, but no luck on lug size... only thing I can think of is that it might be similar to the Rolleiflex lig size, but I dont have a Rolleiflex to compare either.

Thanks in advance!

The easiest thing to do is contact OpTech and ask them.

I think that the Yashica-D has standard slotted lugs that take a strap? Webbing, leather, etc. slipped into the slot and wrapped around and connected. No special connector needed.

Yes, but the thing is that the neck section of the strap does not come with the regular type strap ends where they connect to the camera lugs.

Probably will buy anyway the one with the lug connectors if unable to find out, and if they don't fit, will modify them then. Thanks.

Photo? Sounds confusing.

This is my standard strap. The loop gets pushed through the slot, and then is threaded through itself.

This is what I think of for a Yashica-D lug. That tab stickiing out has a slot, and a piece of webbing, leather, pro-loop connnector, etc. goes into the slot and wraps around to connect to the rest of the strap. Or that round tab at the bottom is for a strap, usually plastic, that has small slots with small holes in the center of the slot. The slot is pressed onto the tab which holds the end.

Hello! These are the tabs I am mentioning that clip on the lugs, the Super Pro Strap. They come in 2 sizes. No mention of Yashica, but I am assuming that being so close to a Rolleiflex, it might be the same size.

I have an Op/Tec Super Pro Type A strap that I use with my Hasselblad 500C/M. I have a Rolleiflex 3.5 MX-EVS which has a strap connecting arrangement very much like the Yashica D.

There is no way either of the Op/Tec Super Pro straps would work with my 3.5 MX-EVS or the Yashica D. The slot-and-post arrangement on those cameras is designed to work with a clip that fastens the camera into the Ever Ready Case. The strap itself is riveted to the ERC.

Rather than using the ERC some people use a plain leather strap with a hole and a slot that goes through the slot and fits over the post. I use Peak Design Anchor Links with the loops going through the slot and around the post. The loop material is snug enough in the slot that there is no danger of it coming loose from around the post.

The Yashica 124G has a similar arrangement. I use an Optech strap with connectors that are just the straight 3/8" nylon braid strap. I like the fact many of these systems allow removing the big bulky padded part and coupling the two connector straps. Domke makes some similar arrangements, including a narrower main strap with friction 'stuff' woven in, which I use on my EOS-M5.

Well, you can try them. But I really don't think that they will work. Do a search for Yashica Mat and look at the variety of images of cameras. Many will have straps attached. I can't find any that use the Bronica/Mamiya/Hasselblad type clips you are looking at.

Thank you all! Found that the clips are not compatible with the Yashica D lugs; moving then onto nylon braid strap with padded neck.

Thanks again!
