The swirl is really nice to have when the subject is more or less centered. I got it once on my Zuiko 50mm 1.8 (planar type), at the closest focusing distance. Very nice.
Long time since I haven't used that Zuiko wide open. Lately been wandering a lot the f4-5.6 apertures and f2.8 at times. A bit of stopping down seems to smooth the out of focus rendering of the lens. Wide open it's a bit hard. I got somekind of "stop down because it will be sharper" bug too :rolleyes:
Some of these "aberrations" are a treat to see. I don't see many with modern zooms equiped on the other medium's cameras.
