The 635 is basically nothing more than a Yashica D with a 35mm film insert( a bit more complex tho). I had a 635 many years ago, preferred the D. I see no point in using a 6x6 to shoot 35mm.

It's fun, you get a fixed 80mm lens. I'm looking for a rolleikin for my Rolliecord III.

Although the 635 is a fine camera, I don't think it bring anything new to the table for you, err, I mean your friend. Please tell him to pass (wink).

I had a 635, it was built on the earlier version of the D with the 3 element taking lens, as I had a 124G with the 4 element taking lens I gave up on the 635 and cropped in.

No, your "friend" needs a Yashica TLR with the Yashinon or Lumaxar lens. :D
