I'm asking about cross-processing negs.
Hi, not available in Australia, importing film from the U.S. generally starts at around $30 to $40 US depending where I order from.
Majority of kits and exotic and new films are simply not sold by any place in Australia.
Wrong.
Blanco Negro, here in Sydney, have FomaPan R100 and the reversal kits, as well as most of the other Foma gear.
just looked at their site - no prices or anything online
Yeah, should have posted that in my post sorry. They have only recently started to bring in the film gear, there website really needs an update.
Try emailing chris at Blanconegro.com.au
Photo Reisel can get the stuff from Blanco as well so if blanco won't ship, I'm sure Photo Reisel will.
In principle you can use each film based on clear polyester base. Foto Studio 13 in Stuttgart (Germany) is processing Scala (E.I. 200) , Rollei Pan 200 (E.I. 125) and Fomapan R100 (E.I. 100) on regular base.
What you likely mean is that the base should not be dyed to the extent that the base density affects light output in projection or introduces a colour hue.
The dyes aren't really a problem, they wash out during processing and whatever magenta dyes may remain will eventually fade away. The tinted film base on the other hand is something that will affect highlights and make them duller. Does it ruin projection? I wouldn't say it does (within reason), but a clear base makes slides look much better. That's the exact concern why some stocks are less preferred for reversal process. The more gray, blue, or pink dye that remains after processing, the less desirable. I've done reversal with 1990s vintage Tri-X, and the base was slightly gray even in the exposed film leader. I never owned a projector, so I don't know how much effect that would have, but a lower base density would surely be preferred.
