I have an old X-Rite 820 and when I shut it off, it does not remember my calibrations the next time I fire it up. There must be a battery or EEprom somewhere that needs replacing. Do any of you know how to solve this or does anyone have a schematic?

They don't normally offer schematics. There is nothing on the assembly diagrams about it or in the manual. It is probably like the 310 and 309 and has a lithium backup battery with pigtails. Its a bit too old for EEproms. I bought some from Bulbs and Batteries without pigtails and soldered some on and fixed the 310 and 309 (watch the voltage - one was 3.4 and one 3.0 v). They are not too hard to locate on the main board. I haven't had to work on the 811/820 yet.

Thanks a lot for this. I am going to take a more detailed look (well, another APUGer, Hexavalent, will be taking the look. It sounds like rocket science to me!)
