X-ray Film Discussion

If the moderators will allow, I've linked a prior discussion here: (there was a url link here which no longer exists), with my queries and trials of developers for the use of X-ray film (Fuji HRT green, in my case). The intent is to bring more discussion under one umbrella, rather than scattered threads. To recap, it appears with my own experiments and priors by others, that shadow detail is at a premium. Straining for every drop of it. There are Pyro fans, Rodinal fans, even D-76 fans, and myself--Willi Beutler fan. But, has anybody tried pre-flashing as a remedy? I've seen results with the regular pan films with astounding results. Any discussion or experimental reports would be most welcome here. Thanks.

There are more types of X-ray films than for pictorial use. This likely ends in comparing apples with oranges.
