Looking for an older selenium meter, but am hesitant to get anything on eBay, even the ones that are 'tested' (tested in eBay land meaning that the needle moved).

If anyone has one that they're willing to part with that is either reading normally, or you have calibrated (even if it's just "set @80 with 125" type of calibration), let me know what it is and what you want for it.

Thanks!

We've got a couple we've owned since new. Problem is we're in Tasmania, so postage will cost more than a meter. Come back to me if you don't find something the states.

If you do find a Weston Master III meter, chances are it will not work properly.

You may consider sending it to Quality Light Metric, in the Los Angeles/ Hollywood area. They work on most light meters and are considered one of the best at repairing light meters.

I have a bunch of selenium meters. I'll pull them out and see if I can get them to match my EOS 3 and report back.

The Weston II & IIIs trend to keep on working until physical damage the Vs selenium cells or cell contacts fail.

Certainly all my II and IIIs still work ok.

My II and III and V, are pretty paper weights. My Master VI works, but that is Japanese made meter.

Well you are unlucky I have seven IIs and IIIs and one has broken galvo one the dial plastic is loose but the meter is ok, the rest within 1/3 stop. They are all beaters.

Four Vs only one with linear cell.

They are so cheap that repair is uneconomic.

I have a lunasix as well but not made a silver cell adapter yet.

Can you still get a V new for 10 pounds? Love to get in touch with them.

Thanks for the replies everyone-- I've got a couple old inaccurate ones that I may have repaired if I can't find one.

Going to be doing some long paddling trips (1.5-2 weeks), some longer backpacking trips, and lots of general travel this season. I'm trying to find a battery-less kit to take with me. (likely an old screwmount camera, and a MF folder or two), as well as a meter that'll work well. In my experience, the rapid and daily temperture cycling kills zinc-air and silver batteries, and tossing stuff in the bottom of a sleeping bag helps a little, but it'll still drop in temp as soon as you get up in the morning, and then heat up throughout the day. I've killed fresh batteries in my MX before on a 3 day trip, between temp cycling and the meter getting bumped and turned on in my backpack.

Anyways, if anyone has any tips or recommendations, or any meters they'd be willing to part with, let me know. I've gotten a few PM's, but only one real offer so far. I'd be open to any meter, or any tips on battery care/handling in rough scenarios.

EDIT: A megatron manufactured NOS Euro Master II just popped up on the 'bay for $9. Being manufactured from 1987-2010, I think I have a good shot of the Se cell still being good. Thanks for the tips!
