I need to purchase some stainless steel developing tank lids/tops for my tanks.
I've been processing black and white film in my SS tanks at 70 degrees for a long time and had no problems. Now I'm processing more C41 at 100 degrees and the plastic top wants to come off during processing. They also leak a lot.
If anybody has some for sale, with caps, please let me know.
You'd be better off looking for complete tanks with lids. I have several Nikor tanks and the lids seem to match only the "right " tanks. Loose on others or too tight to fit. Unless you can find some locally and try them out first you might be no better off.
Traditionally the stainless steel tanks and lids were matched to assure (almost) water-tight performance. I use a second-hand set of SS roll tanks and each lid has been engraved by the previous owner with its matching tank number. Swapping these lids and tanks around produces heavy leakage.
Don't know if current manufacturing techniques are more tightly toleranced and standardized these days, but it's something to keep in mind.
OK. That makes sense. I'll look when I get back. I know the stainless lids aren't perfect either. I plan on using electrician's tape to secure the lid to the tank before I start processing.
For sure. I have a range of tanks and there is pretty much only one combination that works, even when they look identical. I keep them all matched up. Tape will work just fine too.
