Want to Buy WTB: Rolleiflex 2.8 F Planar in excellent condition

The Planar is not uncommon, but in close to mint condition can be.

The unicorn hunt is over. Abandoned this time. Another round of shooting with the 2.8C Xenotar reminded me why I hunted down that one and I am at peace with my camera collection... for now.

In the early 1970s, while visiting the 48thSt. branch of Willoughbys, the customer right before mensold a complete Rollei 2.8 F with case and a bunch of accessories including case, closeup lenses, filters, etc. Manager told me this customer would buy a complete camera outfit, use for a couple weeks, and then trade in for another complete camera outfit. I was given an offer for the whole Rollei package that couldn’t be refused. The camera never left the counter. Rollei still in excellent condition. Except when pistol grip is attached I almost always use with case.
Rollei fault: When holding my toddler daughter, my cased Rollei tumbled down onto asphalt pavement. When I picked camera up…rattle, rattle. I gave camera to a friend who worked at Leitz. The pin that locks camera sheared. He called a friend at Rollei who told him, “Manfred, that’s a fault with this camera, every time it’s dropped, that pin breaks.”

I'm sure you will be happy with it. Had multiple Rolleiflex on the past (like 7 of them) but on the end just keep this one. I love the viewfinder magnifier since you can adjust it and I can make pictures without my glasses.

Lens is great too. Really, difficult not to love 2.8C.
