Hi,
i'm searching for a Pentax MX Motor Drive at a fair price.

Maybe together with the camera, maybe without the battery pack: no problem.

Thanks!

Try Ebay, I picked up a good one from there a couple of years ago at a very fair price. Usual Ebay disclaimers and warnings(!), but guess I was lucky for once !

I missed one at ebay last June...

And now there is one at an unreasonable price (350,- Euro). That's not what i ever want to pay for.

You'll never find a working battery pack for it.

The Winder MX is pretty fast and adds an excellent grip. It's also cheap and easy to find.
If you can live with the slightly lower rate you will be saving yourself a lot of trouble.

Good luck,
Chris

I already have a NOS Battery Pack M! And (fortunately) it is really not a problem to exchange the Cells.

I worked with this combo for many years as a pro photojournalist (side by side with a LX) and enjoyed it very much. Only comparable to an Olympus OM with Motor Drive.

I have a Pentax ME with a motor drive if you are interested. Everything works good. I had to clean the battery terminals to get it working. It takes AA batteries. I have no idea if the drive will work on the MX camera but I will sell the camera and drive together, lens too if you want it. PM me an offer if you are interested.

The ME winder will NOT fit the MX. The MX winder has an Achilles heel: the "door" to the battery compartment. It is held in place by a very small thumbscrew, which I fear threads into plastic. Don't even think of overtightening this little beauty. By contrast the ME winder user a slide "switch" to release the battery tray.

Yep, either winder gives you between 1.5 and 2 fps, so you can burn through a 36 cassette in under 20 seconds. Very nice! I have both, and keep them on single shot, nice to keep the camera to one's eye and ready for the next shot. For some reason i find that they make vertical shots easier. They also add just enough mass for me, and the grip is excellent. I consider them necessities.

Nice discussion here, but, just as a reminder, i'm searching for the Motor Drive and not for the Winder...

Even still you might pick up a winder while you look for the motor drive. Probably find one for under $60.

Here's a listing of a winder for the MX which stresses the battery door and shows a picture of it. Listing is almost certainly expired, but shows the "culprit".

Appologies to offer somethign you are not asking for,
But I have a bulk film loader and 3 cartridges if you do find a winder and need the loading materials.
I also have the accessory coupler that allows the use of the bulk film back without the motor drive if that is of interest.

pm or email if I don't respond.
