I don't think they had diopters for Spotmatics? I had a cheapo aftermarket one that I modified by cutting and gluing in a reading glass lens into. It worked OK. I had to tape it into place and untape it whenever I changed film. Not the most elegant solution.

Checked Keppler, The Pentax Way, they sold them for the M & K series but I remember them before that.

I have a 3rd party eycap somewhere, I've not seen it for years and have moved 3 time but you've remided me I should still have it. From memory it could take a round dioptre. Iyt's strange I need one now on my Spotmatics and SV but less so with my Praktinas.

I've just bought a Pentax Eyepiece magnifier the flip up type £10.95 (less than $15). For 50% more I could buy a Pentax Eyecup, I think these have a screw in ring to take a Dioptre

I don't think they had diopters for Spotmatics? {/QUOTE]

I was wrong Keppler says similar correction lenses were available for older Pentax cameras as well as the K & M. The K series are the same size as the early cameras,

He's correct (of course) The eyepiece of the Spotmatic II I have, has slits along each side which are for correction adapters and those worked when I adapted the Nikon diopter to fit

Is that a third party eye piece, I'm sure the Pentax one was a screw in ring to hold the dioptre. I looked in all the obvious places for my Pentax fit Eyepiece to no avail, then an hour or two thought I haven't looked at mt K/M bayonet cameras and there it was and it takes correction lenses.

Actually the mistake is looking for Dioptres, as soon as you search for correction lenses there's quite a few :D The Pentax forum tells you how to make your own lenses from cheap glasses. I've made red enlarger filter from squre CR39 a few times so it shouldn't be difficult

Taking it slightly further I'd like to make some focus spectacles for LF SLR's, also cameras with focus hoods. they were once sold here in te UK. They fit the camera rather than the photographer.

Hello Ian,
I have a circular +2 diopter that was in my Asahi Pentax Correction Lens Adapter. When I picked up my new glasses, this morning, I asked the technician to analyze it and he confirmed the strength.

Are you willing to part with it ? My Pentax View finder magnifier arrive yesterday, while it's good for fine focussing you can only see the centre of the screen.
