The base plate is a nice thing to have but not necessary to mount the enlarger. I've mounted one of these to a home made baseboard with some t-nuts and hex bolts.

I was a bit concerned as to whether the bolt heads would have enough of a grip on the column mount. Did you use washers? If so, did you flatten one side a bit to get more "purchase" on the mount?

Yes I did use some large washers to grab onto the base. I believe that I may have filed hem down to give a flatfedge. Sorry I don't have pics and the Omega is in storage now.
