I have an LPL 4x5 enlarger and I'm looking for the negative masking attachment. I tried new but it's out of stock and the shop never returned my email. Probably a long shot, but worth a try on Photrio if anywhere!

It is offered here: https://www.emsdiasum.com/microscopy/products/photographic/enlarger.aspx

Not sure if they have it in stock. Price is quite high.

Did you try KHB Photografix (in Canada)? Their price (225 Canadian) is less--about $170 US; out of stock, but they have a "notify me available" button on their website. http://store.khbphotografix.com/Masking-Attachment-for-LPL-and-Saunders-LPL-4x5-Enlargers.html

I've purchased a number of LPL accessories from KHB rather than in the USA because they are quite a bit lower in cost. Takes a few days more to get here, and shipping is a little higher, but still it saves money. The LPL line got a lot more expensive when Omega/Brandess took over distribution than when Saunders was doing it.

I bought my masking attachment from KHB a few years ago so that's who I would have suggested but it does appear they are out of stock. Maybe I got the last one!

Otherwise all I can suggest is to post a wantee ad here (as you did) and set an eBay alert. I'm in the same boat looking for a VCCE module for the past few years, one will pop up sooner or later I hope...

Yes I clicked the notify on KHB's site, and emailed them but they never got back to me. *Shrug*. Hoping I can pick one up as it would make printing 6x6 with borders using the 4x5 glass carrier quite easy.

You can always call them--I know that is a radical idea these days, but it works.

Is this what you are looking for?

I'm still looking for one if anyone has one, comes across one!

I also need the "full frame" 135 glassless carrier for the LPL 4550XL.

Or email them, I found them to be very responsive when inquiring about a replacement power supply for mine.
FWIW, I think a D5 mask could be made to work with some adaptation, but it wouldn’t be terribly easy. I have a D5 mask, and adapting it is one of my “do this someday” projects:smile:

Of course, the LPL masking attachment is not so complicated--a machine shop could duplicate it fairly easily.

If I am not mistaken, the masking attachment for the older Omega enlarger works. I think from the D2 era. You could probably find one of those.

I use rubylith tape on my glass carrier. Works fine but over time I suppose it would be more expensive if you are changing it a lot. I only went this route because of 6x12 negatives.

I've also made masks out of aluminum flashing and covered them in telescope flocking. I cut them to the size of the top glass and just lay them on the glass with the flocking against the glass. That would be the easiest way to go and you won't have to beat your head against the wall trying to find something that may not exist anymore.

I never liked masking attachments. If you are slightly off with one of the blades, the shadow will soften the edge of your print. Usually you don't notice it until the next day. Ask me how I know that... Lol.

Hi all, I recently bought a 2nd hand LPL 7450 missing various bits and pieces. It's missing the negative stage (the basic one with the large round hole).
I can't track one down anywhere (including eBay and KHB) so I'm thinking of making my own.
Can anyone advise what thickness the original is, and the diameter of the hole?
Thanks!
