I've got an old Nikkor 35mm f/2.5 but would like to get something with a bit more contrast. Looking for a Voigtlander, Leitz or Canon. Budget is around 400.

Are you using a lens hood and choosing your film/exposure/development for contrast?

finding a lens hood for this particular lens would be darn near impossible. I've yet to find a filter. It's just an old design which has inherent limitations.

I use a Voigtlander 35/2.5 Pancake II but it is M mount, did you need screw mount? You can get a 35/2.5 Color Skopar in LTM for $299 or the M mount for $329. Both have excellent contrast and use easy to find 39mm filters.

Oh, BTW check out www.cameraquest.com, free shipping on orders over $200 in the US and Stephen Gandy ships fast. The classifieds on RFF are a good spot to look as well, I have bought and sold a lot of equipment there too.

Here is a Nokton for sale

Heavystar do setup rings so you can get filters your need and stuff, I have a Canon 50mm f1.8 which has a 40mm thread, so I have stepped it to 49mm and not probs :D

The lens has nice contrast only used it once on my Leica iiif but i am happy with it
