Hello,

I have a very nice IFF Ampliator 5x7" enlarger, which I currently use mostly for 4x5". The negative carrier I have makes it necessary to cut the roll films into individual frames, which is a bit inconvenient. The photo shows the carrier I use now.

negholder.jpg

I know there other types of negative carriers for the enlarger which allows the use of strips of film. Anyone here who has one for sale? Since the enlarger enlarger is Italian, perhaps some of our Italian members has a carrier for sale, or know where I can get one?

Thanks,
Trond

Hi,

Still searching?

I got an Ampliator S2 without any adapters, masks and glasses.

Constructed adapters for 3D-Print, orienting on pictures of it in the manual.

When this works, i will construct for 6x9 the next thing.

If there is still need ...

Yes, still searching! Incredibly difficult to find parts for these enlargers.

A carrier for medium format film which can take strips would be great!

OK. maybe "classifieds" is the wrong place, baurt we started here...
indeed there are no parts for this enlarger. So we have to build them.
Do you have a manual? (If no, send me a note.)
There is a descritptions from the original part: page 14; pic 19
6x9-frame.jpg

In original this pieces are glassless.
I have to think a little bit about it. I do not like this:
6x9-frame-problem.jpg

With the mask over it, this edge will scrath the film. Thinking about something more smooth, like a ramp on both sides, possibly with something like velevt-stripe?

In Attachment my STEP-Files for 3D-Print of the adapters for 4x5, 9x12 and 6x9. (Use for example: https://ruhrprints.de/produkt/3d-druck/, load them up to see ...)
There are still in print, means UNTESTED. (Have to get the glasses, too... anti newton each for the upper glass, not that easy so small.)

Possibly, you can help me with another thing:
I got only the ALFA-condensor.
To adapt another condensors, i would be glad to know the measures of the BETA an GAMMA-condenser.
I would like to have the width, the length, the height and the thickness in the middle, edge and the middle of the long and the short side.

stay healthy,
Leo

Hi,

I haven't had time to look at the attached files yet, but great work designing these things! I don't have the manual, I will send you a PM with my e-mail address. I have tried to find documentation about this enlarger for years, with no luck.

My Ampliator has a colour head, and I don't have any condenser lenses unfortunately.

I did some construction in tinkercad...
Have to make it a little smaller for 3D-Printing.
The 6x9-Mask is 60*85 and 0.5mm under the the next higher surface.
It is intended to use with the 13x18 AN-glas on the upper side.
Asked a friend if it can be made from aluminium, still waiting for an answer.
3D-Printing will be about 52 € incl. VAT excl. Shipping, here: https://www.3ddesign24.de/3D/3d-druck-service/
The .STL is the file to print.

I have an IFF Ampliator 5x7 adapted for Ilford Multigrade 500 4x5 head but with the original 5x7 Glass negative carrier which I think looks like the one shown here . I can get some photos tomorrow if needed, and am very happy to take whatever measurements are required to assist here if required. I also would be interested in metal masks for all sizes for this carrier, but preferably steel not aluminium. No original documentation unfortunately.

Let me know what you need. Alan

Hi Alan,
obviously i am to silly to start a conversation... please send me one ... i possibly got a manual if you are interested.
Documentation whatsoever seems not to availaible at all.
Making this whole negative carrier from steel or aluminium will be very expensive.
A affordable version - which i would like - would be to construct a plastic carrier for metal pieces in 1 mm height in stainless steel. These can be laser-cut, which is affordable.
Then we have to think about it.

There are now 5 known Ampliator-Users
- Trond from Norway
- Alan from Switzerland
- AndreasJB, Simondom, me from GER

In the case you are from the german-speaking part of Switzerland.... look here:

In my case, I am looking into maybe converting the carrier to take a Durst L1200 Femomask carrier as I have the Ilford Multigrade 500 head which can be easily repositioned. That would allow all of the Femomask 35mm - 4x5 masks to be used. Here are photos of what I have now with original 5x7 Glass carrier like the one already posted. OK, you are using 2 glasses.
Because its simple and cheap, i got some 3D printed masks with a single glas under the film.
9x12.jpg

Like this. Works like a charm.
So.
slight change in the construction.
Added front plate.
The level of the film is 0. Means the inner surface is flat.
The intended usage is to place film and to put an 13x18 AN-glass or a metal mask over it.
If the lever is pulled down the glass or the mask is lifted and you can move the film freely.

just a thought.
