A friend is moving out of there house and into a bus soon. They could not keep all the decorations in the house, and knowing I enjoy older cameras, they gave me a graflex rb series b 21/4x31/4 camera. The camera is missing a roll film back, and a lens. The rest of the camera seams to be good. The shutter seams to be working perfectly and the mirror and such work as it should. The back will probably be hard to come by as its the graflex back and I would like to get the correct 2x3 back for it. If need be I might just modify a graflok style back and make it work. The lens I think should be a kodak ektar 127 4.5 barrel lens but Im not sure and and don't know the history of graflex slr very well.

If anyone can help me out, it would be awesome to get this old camera fully operational again, or any insights into what lens should be on the camera.

Here are some pictures of the rb series b

I have a Graphex Ektar 127 4.7 in shutter . It's not in great shape, though the T setting does work. I guess it would depend on whether you want a shooter or a 100% correct restoration. Given it's condition, I'll let it go pretty cheap.

Im looking for the barrel mount lens, with the correct thread. That lens will not mount up to the camera without modifications

I had one of these gems. Mine came with a 12 exposure roll back. I looked forever for a 23 back, finally ended up with a standard 23 insert, and had to modify the original shell opening for the 2 1/4 Ă— 3 1/4 format. Mine had a Kodak lens. Lots of steps to not to forget.

Look for a #31 Kodak Anastigmat 5 1/2" an earlier uncoated barrel lens.
This should screw right in. The newer 127mm is nickel? plated

Good answer Choiliefan. I had forgotten that there was a Kodak Anastigmat available for this camera. I was going to recommend the 127mm Ć’4.5 Ektar, since that's what I have on my camera.
The Kodak Anastigmat is also a very nice lens. The K/A's were all in a black painted barrel, the Ektars, at least post WWII were nickel plated.

I have the same camera. The correct lens is either the the 127mm Ć’4.5 Ektar barrel lens or the #31 Kodak Anastigmat barrel lens, depending on when the camera was made. I think that the lens mount is the same for both lenses. Regarding any roll film backs or sheet film holders, make sure that they are for "GRAFLEX" backs, not "GRAPHIC" Backs. This is very important. Graflex made two kinds of camera backs and they are not interchangeable. Good luck getting the camera going, they are fun cameras.

There are Graflex related camera groups on Facebook. including one devoted exclusively to the Graflex SLR cameras. It's a private group, so you'll have to answer some questions to get your request to join approved. It might be worth your time to check it out. https://www.facebook.com/groups/234402629926720

Awesome, thank you for the great answers, if i give a serial number, can anyone figure how old it would be? Not worried about getting the correct dated lens but just interested. I love old cameras and the history behind them.

i will have to get me wife to join that facebook group as i dont have any social media besides apug and llf.

By this i found, it should have a 39.5 flange for the lens. I put my calipers on it. Just measuring the opening size, it is 43mm. I might be measuring wrong but.

Double check that. In the descriptive part of that document and other Kodak publications they are more clear that they refer to the adapter for lens accessories like Series filters and hoods..

I could be wrong also... I can't pull mine out right now to measure and verify. Maybe tomorrow. I'm puzzling through this with you with a Number 34 I have but need a mounting flange.

I have now got a lens for the rb, an ektar that was originally made for the camera, but I am still looking for a film holder. At this point, I'm looking for either a roll or sheet film holder, of the slotted variety. I would just like to be able to use the camera.

You can use any 2x3 Grafmatic with that camera. Unlike the 4x5s, 2x3 Grafmatics for both the spring back and graphic back are the same width. While Graflex made two kinds of 2x3 Grafmatics, but both will fit. Yes, I have one of these cameras and use Grafmatics on it.

awesome, thats a good thing to know. Now also looking for a grafmatic 23

I am now mainly looking for a grafmatic 23 too use with this camera. The camera is now in fully working condition.

On a side note, I tried two versions of Grafmatic on my 2X3 Auto Graflex Jr without any success.
This is an older old camera with a slightly more narrow opening for the grooves on the right side plate.
Had the same problem with a standard grooved roll-holder.
The ancient #50 film roll-holder fits fine however. Oh well...

Are you asking for 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 slotted holders? I have 7 for sale.

I also may have a RFB, Red Advance Lever, for your camera. E++ or MINT-/

BTW, I also have a "Cut Film Magazine" that will fit your camera. Let me know if you are interested.
