I use a Gitzo Reporter, with a small Gitzo ball head, no arms but short knob locks, for everything from small 35mm, Hasselblad with heavy lenses, etc, and my Speed Graphic.
I mounted two short bar levels, (tilt and fall and side to side actions), to the top of the Speed Graphic so I have a fast setup for a shoot to be taken, otherwise my tripod legs can be set individually on uneven ground, steps or rock and stumps, to just about ground level, with center rod removed, and leveled up that way, but that's a bit backwards to the process.
The Hasselblad 500 CM has it's side mounted tilt and fall bar level and once you've got the vertical front set, the Horizontals take care of themselves (and vice versa).
It's all down to what you're seeing in the viewfinder for every camera, and getting use to paying attention to what's occuring there.
There is no mystery to leveling a tripod, just secure lockups, steady placement and a focused attention.
No one is laying up borders between Waring Nations and unless you're like me and compose in camera, for full frame printing, the enlarger can cure many ills.
