I don't work for seawood. Just happened to come across this beauty right before checking into this forum.

Thanks for the heads up. Nice camera although well beyond the price point of the Fuji

So, I just bought one of these for a nice price, since the bellows was full of holes (as one might expect). I figured "If I don't like it, at least there's a guy on Photrio who wants one." Sadly, I've tested two rolls with it, and the lens standard seems quite badly misaligned. The rangefinder isn't even close to accurate, and the focal plane is clearly at a wonky angle to the film plane. Almost like a shift lens.

I'll be sending it back to the seller, but I believe the experience has scared me off of buying another one. It's a nice camera in a nice small package, and from what parts of the frame I did manage to get in focus it seems to have a very sharp lens. However, there's just so much that can go wrong with it. Even if I could find someone to repair this one (I've asked four repair shops and all of them have said they can't), I'd always have that fear that it's just a roll away from breaking down.

Also, the exposure indicators aren't easy to see and it's waaaay too easy to move the aperture dial when you move the shutter speed dial. It's a real shame, because there's pretty much no other option like it unless you want to drop twice the money on a GA645/w/zi that's just as likely to bite the dust. Sigh.

I have a GS645S if you get one with a misaligned rangefinder I can show you how to align it, just inbox me. I bought one in similar condition to yours and brought it back from the dead. I had to do that, grease the alignment shaft between the lens and RF coupling mechanism, I had to clean the VF glass, and adjust the film tension plate and it has turned into a decent shooter. Most of them by now need some sort of love.

Thanks! I think I'm going to try a GS645S at some point soonish (maybe when I get the money back for the GS645), so I might have to take you up on that!
