My 80mm Componon-S has mysteriously developed a rather severe case of hazing or fungus or separation or something else equally horrible; there's a strange film that's suddenly coating the inside of the lower element. I'm looking to replace it with a clean example, so if anyone has an 80mm Companon-S they'd like to part with, please let me know.
We can certainly talk about that, because I could use a 135 for printing my 4x5's (if I ever get that enlarger finished) but I'll still need an 80 (or a 50, I guess) for my 35's and 645's.
I'll keep that one in mind; I've got a couple of people that have PMed me with possible offers, so we'll see where all of this goes. Thanks to everyone for the quick responses; I thought I was going to have a hard time finding something!
Good to know! I've also gotten an offer on a Computar DL, which looks like a rather interesting lens, albeit not a direct replacement for the Schneider. I'd also consider a good Rodenstock 80, or a Nikkor.
Sorry for the post reply here, but the PM screen seems to only allow inserting images from a URL while this screen allows to insert photos from my hard drive.
I tried to show the flashlight test for the lens, but didn't do a good job. The lens appears to have dust in it - it has physical size - it's NOT fungus
The rear ring has a mark, nicks. The optics are clean, as are the aperture blades.
I tried to blow any dust off the outside elements of the lens and take another photo. The lens still appears to have dust inside when I take a picture. The lens does not appear that way just looking at it with a flashlight shining through. Nevertheless, I amend my post to to note that the lens appears that way and was probably cleaned by the previous owner and either he got dust inside, or there are remaining marks on the inside of the glass.
