Want to Buy WTB: 6x6 roll film back for 4x5

I'd like to buy one or two affordable and dependable 6x6 roll film backs for use with my Sinar F2.

binglebugbob says that if a Graflex, I should "look for a shell with the chrome pin rollers on each side of the film gate. The pin rollers are about the diameter of the lead in a wood lead pencil. The early ones didn't have them and the early ones don't hold the film as flat. The Graflex backs with lever wind inserts originally came in a shell with pin rollers, but you have to check because over the years, inserts and shells often got switched around. So you could find a lever wind insert in a shell without the pin rollers."

I'm not familiar with the various brands and types, so contact me with what you have that would work well for my purpose.

? Gobbledygook. Not a very comprehensible post

Most roll film backs are 6x7 or 6x9, older Graflex backs come in 6x6 as well. I have and use a Wista 6x9 back for years, I rarely use it now as I carry enough 5x4 DDS,m however I do use a pair of Graflex RH10 (6x7) backs on a Quarter plate camer and a 6.5x9 Busch Pressman and they are very well made, a 6x6 version would be nomdifferent.

Graflex made their roll film backs for the 6.5x9 cameras and their 5x4 cameras.

Hi Keith,

I have a Graflex 4x5 "22" roll film holder, with original box and instructions. Excellent condition. I will sell for $125 plus shipping.

I worked in a photo store when I was an undergraduate in college and used a 23 Speed Graphic with a roll back. About 1960 I started getting slightly out of focus images and the Graflex salesman told me Kodak had made a change in the roll film backing paper and the new pin rollers were needed to keep the film flat. I sent my roll back to Graflex for a free repair and didn't have any further problems. So, yes, look for the pin rollers before buying.

Keith, is there a particular reason why you want a 6x6 RF holder, 6x7 and 6x9 are far more common. I can buy a Linhof 6x7 back here in the UK nS/H for £49/$77 and that's the typical sort of price for MPP and other 6x7 backs in good working order maybe with a few slight signs of cosmetic wear and tear.

Some backs have adapters for 6x6.

How much did you think these would cost? I have a few and they run typically about $100-150 or so depending on condition. I've found cheaper but their condition was such that they either had minute burrs or imperfections on rolls or areas of the back that caused film scratches.

Equally it's possible to find excellent backs that are much newer for under $100 (Wista, Horseman etc) and there's plenty around. Graflex backs in good condition are usually $60-$70. I paid less than that for my two and they are in very good condition, that was off an APUG seller.

I already have recently bought a 6x7 roll film back. I like composing with a square format, although I know people will say just crop. It is a minor thing. I'm not accustomed to shooting with a roll film back, and was checking out my options.
